Super Visa
A super visa is a type of visa issued by the Canadian government that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for an extended period of time.
Unlike a regular visitor visa, which typically allows a stay of up to six months, a super visa is valid for up to 10 years and allows for multiple entries, with each visit being allowed to last up to five years. This allows parents and grandparents to spend more time with their loved ones in Canada.
To be eligible for a super visa, the applicant must meet certain requirements, such as providing proof of private medical insurance coverage for at least one year, demonstrating that they have sufficient ties to their home country, and passing a medical examination. In addition, the sponsor (i.e., the Canadian citizen or permanent resident) must meet certain income requirements to prove that they can financially support their parent or grandparent during their stay in Canada.
Applicants for a super visa must apply from outside Canada, and the application process can take several months to complete. It is recommended to start the process well in advance of the planned visit.
